Using The Internet To Sell Trucking Equipment

Using the Internet to Sell

I was thinking about how much I had purchased through the Internet last year. 100% of my holiday, birthday and special event shopping topped the list, but I also bought clothing, parts for my truck and a host of other items to include a video recorder and camera. I thought I was doing well by taking the geography component out of the purchasing equation.  I hate to travel all over the place in search of something when a few clicks will bring the info to me.  However, when I was talking to my neighbor about how easy it is, he said he knew already as he had purchased two cars in the last year over the Internet – one new – one used.

Advertising and Internet positioning determine what gets seen and hence purchased by consumers.  Many people believe they must possess technology infrastructure to successfully sell, but that obstacle has been removed by companies such as eBay and many others that are specialized such as  TruckerToTrucker who has even carved out a very successful position.  One can simply post the item for sale and the potential buyer contacts the seller and the negotiation begins.  What makes it easy is that multiple pictures, product information and often even a seller history is quickly available to the consumer.

I guess one could page through magazines or the newspaper to make a purchase, but space limits the availability of specific information, especially multiple pictures – I'm not sure I fully understand why selling occurs through paper offerings. The other advantage is that the offering is available throughout the world.  The truck parts I purchased recently came from Mexico.  I purchased utilizing the Internet  instead of my local parts dealer – all the tech specs were right in front of me and they were all OEM parts.  I guess I could have gone to my parts dealer, but it was so much easier sitting at home and all the info necessary was right in front of me.

My neighbor told me he found the perfect car for his daughter and saved all kinds of time searching.  All he did was make one trip to confirm the automobile was as advertised as everything else was already known.  He had the check in his hand when he left and returned with a great used vehicle.

I'm already searching for a good used truck – let me see what's available.  It might even be right here.

I agree. The internet has been my biggest help in selling trucks over the last couple of years. I know that if the internet wasn't around I would not be selling trucks to campanies that are 2000 miles away or even in other countries. The internet allows us to email pictures that will be at your desk in less than 10 minutes, instead of 3 days by snail mail. Without the internet the truck videos I make would not be as usefull as if I had to mail a VHS everytime a customer wanted to view the trucks. This blog is another great example of the power of the internet, it is one of the best tools in any sales position out there. tntrucksales.com

Yes, also agree with you. You find nearly everything on the Web. You don't have to be on the phone the whole day or search around the nearby dealers.

@TN Truck Sales...nice looking website, that's an excellent idea to use a Wordpress platform for a truck sales website. Have you noticed if it is helping your search results? Are you doing anything to build links to your website?
