It's always fun to talk about the fun and unique facts surrounding truckers and the truck driving industry. No matter how long you've been a truck driver, we'll bet there are some things you never knew. Read on and test your knowledge about your important job.

Fact #1

Truckers always appreciate seeing other truckers when they're on the road. You share a common bond with those who do the same job you do. However, do you know how many trucks there are in the United States? Sources say around 15.5 million! In fact, if you stacked trucks end to end, they would actually reach to the moon.

Fact #2

Are you an independent truck driver? If so, you're in the minority. Only about one in nine truck drivers doesn't own and operate their own truck.

Fact #3

You've been taught that trucks need more time to stop than cars do, but do you know how much more time? On average, your truck needs about 40% more. If only more four-wheel drivers knew that.

Fact #4

Many people think trucks use a lot of fuel and they contribute to pollution rates. However, when compared to four-wheelers, trucks only use a little more than 12% of all of the fuel that's purchased in the US.

Fact #5

What do Steven Spielberg, Burt Reynolds, Chuck Norris and Patrick Swayze all have in common? They all helped make the trucking industry famous by contributing to movies that were made in the 1960s and 70s. Finally! Truckers got some positive recognition in the entertainment industry!
